I have been using Campaign Monitor for years as my primary email tool. To be honest, most of the email service providers are pretty similar in the features they offer. But I love how easy and fast the Campaign Monitor user interface is. If you get an email from the site, it will be from Campaign Monitor.
Mailchimp is a tool I have had to use a lot for clients. Again the features are pretty complete just a little more fiddly to get to them.
When you want to set to set up an automated sequence of emails when users subscribe or take an action on your website take a look at Aweber. Aweber is the grand daddy of auto-responder emails. The interface is a bit clunky but it is a very powerful tool

I have been designing emails for years and Litmus still catches issues and saves me from embarrassing mistakes.
